Chicken in Lemon & Orange Sauce

Saturday, July 11, 2009

I decided to cook this simply because i’m bored with the normal cooking and wanted to try something new. The sweeteness of orange and tangy sourness of lemon should be a good combination.

This recipe is a simple enough recipe which i prepare with no diffculties at all. Sis said it’s a bit too sour, but personally, i like the flavour. Each to it’s own, i think.

Chicken in Lemon and Orange Sauce

 300 g              chicken leg

 ½ tsp               salt

 ¼ tsp               paprika

 ¼ tsp               black pepper

 1 tbsp               lemon juice

 1                         lemon zest, grated

 1 tbsp               cooking oil

 1 tsp                  garlic, mashed

 2 tbsp               lemon juice

 50 ml                orange juice

 2 tsp                  sugar

 1 tbsp                honey

 1 tsp                  spring onion, chopped

 some                 cornstarch

 1                          orange zest, sliced thinly

½                         tomato, sliced thinly

1.        Wash chicken meat and pat dry. Cut into bite size.

2.        Marinate chicken with salt, sesame oil, black pepper, paprika and lemon juice.

Cover and keep in fridge for at least 1 hr.

3.        Heat wok and pan fry chicken till golden brown. Remove.

4.        For the sauce, heat wok and sauté the garlic till fragrant. Add in lemon juice,

orange juice, sugar and honey, stir to mix.

 5.         Cook until boil, add in spring onion. Thicken with cornstarch.

6.         Dish onto serving plate and garnish with orange zest and sliced tomatos.
