Deep Fried Prawn Fritters

When i was young, i rarely had to chance to eat prawn fritters as mom never cook it. I guess it’s because of her culinary skills limitation. She doesn’t know how to cook much, just the most basic dish. I remember eating the same dishes almost everyday! Yuck!

Later, when i was in my teens, i learned how to cook prawn fritters from my friend’s mom by accident. She was deep-frying them when i followed my friend back to her home one afternoon. Wow! They smelled nice and looked delicious.  Auntie offered some to me and they were YUNMMY!

Well, the rest is history. I grapped the chance and asked her to teach me. And now, i have the most fabulous prawn fritters recipe in my possession. Yeah!

Deep Fried Prawn Fritters



300 g                           medium size prawn, deshelled with tail intact

50 g                              rice flour

150 g                            plain flour

½ tsp                           salt

1 tsp                             dried parsley

¼ tsp                           black pepper

1 tsp                             tumeric powder

½ tsp                           paprika

2 tsp                             Eno powder (for indigestion, lemon flavour)

150 ml                         cold milk

4oo ml                        cooking oil

 Dipping Sauce:

2 tbsp                          mayonnaise

1 tbsp                          sweet chilli sauce

 →  Mix together



1.    Mix all dry ingredients together. Stir in cold milk gradually and blend into gooey paste.

        Not too runny as it will not stick to the prawn.

2.    Heat cooking oil to medium high heat, dip prawn into batter (holding onto the tail), 

        and drop them gently into the oil.

3.    Fry until golden, remove from oil and place onto oil absorbent paper towel.

4.    Serve hot with dipping sauce.
