Sweet & Sour Chicken

Cooked this dish just because i suddenly wanted to see something red on the dining table. I love to see colours spreading across the table; red yellow, green, brown, so beautiful! It’s like having my very own rainbow. Well, it certainly helps to improve the appetite.


Sweet & Sour Chicken



1 pkt                   boneless chicken leg

1/3 can             canned pineapple cubes ( small can, 454 g )

1                           big tomato, cut into cubes

400 ml               cooking oil

100 g                  corn flour

200 g                  ketchup

5 tbsp                 vinegar

2 tbsp                 sugar

50 ml                  pineapple syrup ( from can )

1/2 tsp                salt

1 tbsp                  sesame oil

1 tbsp                  cooking oil



1.    Washed and cut chicken meat. Marinate with salt and sesame oil for 1 hour.

2.    In a big plastic bag, dump corn flour in it. Add chicken pieces and twist to

       close the bag. Toss the plastic bag gently to evenly coat the chicken. Remove.

3.    Heat 400 ml cooking oil, deep fry chicken until golden. Remove and set aside.

4.    Heat 1 tbsp cooking oil, saute tomato and pineapple 1 minute.

5.    Add ketchup, pineapple syrup, sugar and vinegar, stir to blend.

6.    Add fried chicken and mix. Quickly.

7.    Remove from heat, garnish and serve.
